Waymakers

Waymakers is a nonprofit resource that “helps people find their way.”  Whether redirecting youth offenders, helping sheltered children get back on track, unifying troubled families, resolving conflicts or empowering victims of violence, Waymakers helps individuals advance beyond crisis and build a better path for their lives.

There are three Waymakers youth shelters in Orange County.  In the spring, the Huntington Beach location reached out to our dealership there asking for help as they underwent a series of much-needed renovations.  For several weeks, while their kitchen was under construction, they found themselves in need of meals for the youth in residence.  Toyota of Huntington Beach came to the rescue by recruiting other Wilson dealerships, associates and members of the community to provide two meals a day until the kitchen was completed.  In addition, the dealership provided new bedding for all the residents.  When the shelter held their Open House on June 13, the rooms were beautifully decorated; and each space displayed a small sign telling a bit of that resident’s story. It was a very positive and heartwarming event.  On behalf of Toyota of Huntington Beach, Jane D’Amelio, Jeanette Rivera and Gina Paramo presented the shelter with a check for $5,000 – to be matched by Toyota for another $5,000 – for a total gift of $10,000.

To those in crisis, Waymakers is the stable home they never had – their voice when they’re too fragile to speak – their alternative to the juvenile justice system – their path away from gang life, substance abuse and other destructive behavior.  Wilson Automotive is proud to partner with this amazing organization in fostering lasting change and positive impact throughout our communities.
